GET READY TO BLOOM AT LYNNMALL

It might still be cold, but the days are getting longer at last, and I can’t wait for the warmer weather and brighter days. So, I’m more than ready to shake off the winter blues and kick off a spring refresh with my beauty routine.

I like to kick off the season with a fresh start – a thorough spring clean of my beauty products and tools. It’s a great time to deep clean your makeup brushes with your favourite brush cleaner or your own shampoo, treat them gently and dry thoroughly, reshaping the bristles before completely dry. I like to tip everything out and clean cosmetic bags, pouches and storage before checking out the products themselves.

For years, I kept makeup loooong past it’s use-by date. Not only did I end up with a lot of clutter (not good for busy mornings!) but was disappointed by products that had lost quality and probably contributed to breakouts. Many of our favourite products are also favourite breeding grounds for bacteria – not the fresh growth you’re looking for! Check your products for shelf-life info, but as a general guide, mascara should be replaced every 3-4 months, foundation every 6-12 months and lip products after a year. Check your skincare too – and remember that sunscreen doesn’t last forever!

Continuing the spring clean theme, indulge in an ‘everything shower’. More than functional, the everything shower has gone viral in all the right ways as a luxurious all-inclusive shower routine and is a great way to give yourself a pampering spa-like experience for a fraction of the price. Kick off the process outside the shower with a gentle facial cleanser, pre-shower hair mask and full-body dry brush. Set the mood with your favourite scented candle and music before heading into the shower for a body scrub and cleansing shampoo followed by a conditioning treatment and skin treat. Shave if you want, wash your treatments off and step out to fresh fluffy towels. After your shower, treat your face, body and hair with your favourite serum or moisturiser and spend some time relaxing for maximum benefit.

New season also means new colours, products and trends. Here’s what I have my eye on at LynnMall.

Tinted Lip Oil Farmers, Hair Mask Rodney Wayne Salon & Shampoo N Things, Multi-use Cream Stick and Glow Serum Chemist Warehouse, Body Care Products The Body Shop, Carolina Herrera Good Girl Blush Fragrance Farmers, Makeup Brushes Farmers, Hair Shine Serum Farmers.

Glowing skin, luminous lips and rosy cheeks are back from spring as we move back to lighter coverage, replacing warm browns and rich reds for shimmery shades, soft pinks and peaches and metallic highlights that are as fresh as the season. I’m loving the ever-increasing range of multi-use and double-duty products, from foundations that truly love your skin, blend sticks and drops for both cheeks and lips and lightweight, luminescent tinted moisturisers and BB creams that let your skin breath and give that lit-from-within glow. For lips, think glossy, juicy shades and more luxurious care with nourishing tinted lip oils and balms for maximum hydration.

Fragrances are lightening up too and spring is the ideal time to switch up your fragrance game with lighter, fresher scents. Florals are a perennial favourite with some of your favourite perfumers releasing bloom, blush and floral variants. Or, if florals aren’t your thing, look for citrus and green tea notes, a fragrance mist, or eau de toilette version of your favourite for a lighter, more delicate result.

Don’t forget your crowning glory – trim off split ends left over from winter or ask for a restyle that suits your hair type and lifestyle (effort level in my case!) with a nod to season trends of texture and effortless style. Look forward to summer with soft heatless curls at home and lighten up with warm honey, caramel and copper tones.

Whether you’re spring cleaning, adding a few new products or revamping your entire look, this spring offers versatile and accessible looks that will have you feeling fresh and ready to come out of winter hibernation. So, check out the blooming new season ranges at LynnMall and embrace your own beauty this season.
