Before Hansan was founded in 1998, the Chin family lived through the terrors of the Indo-China war.
They took refuge across Vietnam, and then finally, settled in New Zealand.
With a new lease of life, the Chin family ventured into the realm of cuisine. They named their restaurant after their two sons, Han and San: “to overlook the mountain”, the same way they now looked towards their future.
Today, every Hansan follows the traditional recipes the brothers were taught by their parents.
